Getting to work with Walgreens was a milestone for me as I’ve enjoyed my past healthcare and pharma copywriting and Walgreens is one of the biggest names out there. During this assignment, I was given a wide range of projects to work on such as Liver Awareness Month and the Got My Shot vaccination stickers. Got My Shot was my favorite project during my time there, a chance to be creative and even a little silly because I was creating stickers to give kids after getting their COVID-19 vaccinations. Bad puns were the order of the day (one of the important tools a copywriter uses) and I was encouraged to keep them animal-based. The biggest hit, which I should be ashamed to announce here, was “I GOT MY SHOT ON PORPOISE!” In addition to generating copy, I also was able to take on coordinating duties as in the past. I supervised several campaigns from start to finish, heading meetings and making sure we adhered to Walgreens’ special branding and writing style. I also continued to write and produce videos for the company’s YouTube channel, including a new experience for me, videos for children (see Jax’s Return to the Rink below).
